STARTING NEW PRINTING AND PACKAGING INDUSTRY IN
MANSEHRA
(I/O Based
Model)
In Hazara industrial sector is signs of revival helped
by improved security, gas supply and the federal government’s incentives
package after conflict between Army and Taliban.
In Swat’s 317 industrial concerns have resumed their
activities. Among them are manufacturers of cosmetic products, yarn looms, and
plastic manufacturers. A pharmaceutical company has started its operations
after about two years. The unit once employed over 400 workers, all of whom
lost jobs when it was shutdown. Buner all of the 179 marble units and a score
of marble quarries went out of operations in April 2008. However, the bad patch
seems to be over, as businesses are reported to be on path to recovery. In the
Gadoon-Amanzai industrial estate, a foam manufacturing unit and a plastic
manufacturing plant started operation after remaining closed for quite some
time during Army Operation.
Their revival
is being attributed to the federal government’s incentive package announced
last year. Announced in January 2010, the package came into effect from March
that year. It was aimed at off-setting the adverse effects the businesses and
industries suffered due to militancy.
Federal excise duty has been reduced to zero on goods
produced in the ‘most affected areas’ and to 50 per cent in the ‘moderately
affected areas.’ Similarly, all registered KP companies are entitled to 100 per
cent income tax exemption for a period of three years and 50 per cent sales tax
exemption for a period of two years.
Mardan is largely an agricultural area. The major
crops are wheat, sugarcane, tobacco, maize, rice, rapeseed, mustard and various
vegetable crops. Important fruits are
orange, plum, peach, apricot, pear, rare mango and apple.
Manufacturing
has also grown over the years and so has the financial sector where the town
centre has become home to many national and international banks
Industries include a well-established sugar mill, The
Premier Sugar Mill and small to large cigarette manufacturing industries,
besides various other large and small industrial units such as flour and paper
mills. Some small sector industries of gur (jaggery), tobacco leaf processing,
tiles, soaps, marble, and bricks are also present.

customers who want to protect their product from external environment and need
a container to contain their product. Major customers of Packaging business are
those who are manufacturing sweets, cosmetics, food products, agricultural
products, textiles, handicrafts and many more FMCG. With the passage of time
